Congratulations on the birth of your baby!
We are happy to be there for you even after your pregnancy and to support you in the postnatal period.
According to the maternity guidelines, two check-ups are scheduled after the birth:
Ideally, the first check-up should take place in the first week after the birth.
This appointment focuses primarily on how you are feeling after the birth. We’ll take the time to answer your questions and discuss:
In addition:
This initial examination is deliberately a brief check-up and is primarily intended to ensure that you are recovering well after the birth.
This involves:
Please feel free to bring your baby along to this appointment. We are very much looking forward to meeting your newborn!
As soon as your baby is born, please get in touch with us via our online reception.
We will then arrange an appointment for your first postnatal check-up.
If it is not logistically possible to arrange the first check-up within the first seven days (for example, if you or your baby are still in hospital), that is not a problem. In this case, the next check-up will take place as part of the comprehensive postnatal examination after 6–8 weeks.
Pregnancy and childbirth place great demands on your body. A good postnatal recovery is therefore particularly important – especially for the pelvic floor muscles.
We recommend that every woman takes part in a postnatal exercise class after giving birth.
Options include:
Regular exercise helps to strengthen the pelvic floor again and can prevent problems such as stress incontinence or a feeling of pressure in the pelvic floor.
As a complement to traditional postnatal recovery, we also offer Emsella® pelvic floor stimulation at our practice.
During the treatment, you sit fully clothed on a special pelvic floor chair. Electromagnetic pulses trigger a large number of intense pelvic floor muscle contractions. This activates the muscles particularly effectively and can support the postnatal recovery process.
Emsella is not a substitute for postnatal exercise, but can usefully complement it.
If you are interested, please feel free to speak to us at your second postnatal check-up. We are happy to offer you a free trial session at any time, provided the pelvic floor chair is available.
We look forward to continuing to support you and your baby after the birth!
